Cycling

Gers is such a good region for cycling that the Tour de France passes through it – it has even got a church dedicated specially to cycling and its history, the fascinating Chapel of Notre-Dame des Cyclistes, which is hosted in a 12th century Knights Templar fortress.

Alasdair is a keen cyclist and has the lycra to prove it!  The vast range of cycling routes just on our doorstep is one of the things that attracted us to Le Poteau.  From meandering rambles through country lanes to lung busting challenges, you will be spoiled for choice.

Here’s a few resources that can support you if you fancy exploring by bike:

Gascogne Bike Hire – Good quality and well maintained hybrid bikes, provided by a great local company who deliver to Le Poteau or provide guided bike tours.

Crazy Guy on a Bike – One of our favourite cycling websites, full of bike madness.  This link will take you to a load of routes in the Midi-Pyrenees.

Map My Bike is another really good resource.  This link takes you to another host of cycling routes in the Midi-Pyrenees which allow you to download the GPS coordinates.

Gers Tourist Site Almost 100 mapped routes from the official Tourism site of Gers.
