Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Le Poteau?

Although deep in the French countryside, we’re less than 30 miles from the motorways on good roads and easy to find.

Our address: Domaine le Poteau, 32440 Castelnau d’Auzan, Gers, France
GPS coordinates: 43.949097 / 0.077050

Bizarrely, our address is not in the database of all Tom-Toms but our neighbors “Grison” is.  So, enter “Castelnau d’Auzan, France” address “Grison” and 50 meters before the destination, you will find our signposted driveway! Our coordinates in Google Maps are 43.949097, 0.077050 or: + 43 ° 56 ‘56.75 “, + 0 ° 4’ 37.38”.  We can’t wait to welcome you to our lovely site.

If you are like me (Fiona) you like the odd reassurance en route so here are a few more details

From South via Eauze

If arriving from the South it is easiest to head towards Eauze.  From there it is an easy 10km drive to Castelnau D’Auzan on the D43.  When you come to the junction at Castelnau, turn left onto the D15. You pass a lake and play park on your left. Continue for approx 1km round a sweeping bend and up a hill.  At the crossroads you will see a Le Poteau sign.  Turn left past the big house with the tower and you will find us after 100m or so on the left.

There are several options.  The A63 will take you to Mont De Marsan.  From there follow the D933N to Saint Justin. Take the D626 to Labastide D’Armagnac.  Continue on D626 follow directions to Barbotan Les Thermes turning onto the N524.  Once past Barbotan continue to croissroads and turn right onto D15.  Continue on D15 (cross another crossroads with Le Poteau sign). Follow this road past Garden Centre on right for approx 4km.  You will pass another Le Poteau sign.  Just after the big sign indicating you are now in Occitanie you come through a dip and as you reach the top of the hill you will see a small house on your right.  Continue a few more metres to a small crossroads where there is a Le Poteau sign.  Turn right past the big house with the tower on your left.  You will find us on the left after 100m or so on the left.

Can I bring dogs?

Yes, we allow up to 2 dogs per pitch and provide free poo bags, dog treats and a lovely dog walking field.  We ask that dogs are always kept on a lead (except in the walking field).

How is the site served for wifi and mobile phone signal?

We provide free wifi and the mobile signal is pretty good.

Can we have fires and BBQs?

BBQs – Yes, we love them!  We ask you not to place them directly on the ground to protect the grass and guard against fires.  BBQs are available free throughout the campsite.

Fires – We love them too, but the dry weather in this area makes them a hazard in summer.  We often use our own fire pits in the orchard, where we can control and supervise them.

Can we make a group booking?

Give us a call or send us an email and we will accommodate you if we can.

How can I recharge my phone?

Electric hook-ups are available throughout the site.  If you haven’t got electric, then we’re happy to recharge your phone for free.

What campsite rules should I know?

We’re not big on rules.   Our priority is that everyone (us included) has a fabulous, happy, relaxing time.  We mainly ask that guests respect each other and the facilities and ideally smile and say ‘hello’.  You can see our campsite policies here.
