Both Alasdair and Fiona are keen walkers. Alasdair has climbed and hiked all over the UK and in France, Italy, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal and India. Fiona is less adventurous on that front but does love a good hill walk or scenic trek. As they get to know the beautiful Gers better, more routes will be added which you will be able to download to your phone for guidance – but always take a map to be on the safe side.
The Midi-Pyrenees Tourism site rightly states that ‘In the Pyrenees, along the St James’s Way pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela and around Toulouse, Conques and Rocamadour, not a single part of Midi-Pyrénées is free of footpaths. The dense network of trails here is every walker’s and hiker’s dream: a total of 30,000 km of waymarked footpaths that make this region an attractive proposition’
Here’s a few walks which are handy for the campsite. They will take you past vineyards, sunflowers, castles and beautiful towns and rivers:
Gers Tourist Site – You want walks? This site has hundreds of them.
Compestelle St Jacques – The famous pilgrims walking route passes right through the Gers and offers a wonderful opportunity to discover this fabulous region on foot or bike.
